Easy Breezy Navy Bean Soup

Easy Breezy Navy Bean Soup 

 

Prep. Time: 10 min.
Total Time: 15 min.
Servings: 4-6 

 

Ingredients:

• 2 t. butter or olive oil
• 1 sm. onion, diced
• 3 carrots, diced
• 3 celery stalks, chopped
• 1 clove of garlic or 1 T. garlic powder
• cubed ham (optional)
• 2-3 c. water or stock (chicken or vegetable)
• 2 c. Navy Bean Flakes
• Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

1. In a medium saucepan, add butter, onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Heat on medium stirring occasionally until onions are soft and translucent.
2. Add water or stock and meat, simmer until carrots are soft.
3. Stir in Navy Bean Flakes, add more water or flakes until it reaches your desired consistency, will slightly thicken as it cools.
4. Cook an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Classic Hummus Base

Hummus, Garbanzo Bean, Chickpea

Prep. Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 2-4

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 c. Garbanzo Bean Flake
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • ⅓ c. tahini (optional) or 2 drops sesame oil
  • 1 clove fresh garlic or ½ tsp garlic powder (if you use garlic salt, skip adding salt)
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice or vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt (add more if desired)

 

Directions: 

1. Put all ingredients in food processor or blender, pulse together until well blended.  Add more water or flakes by the tablespoon until you reach the desired consistency. 
2. Chill for 30 minutes before serving. The flavors will become more defined as it rests.

 

Mix it up!

Greek: Base plus 1 T. yellow mustard, diced green olives to garnish.
Roasted Red Pepper: Base and garnish with roasted red peppers.
Spicy: Base plus 1 t. (or more) red pepper flakes, garnish with a small swirl of Sriracha or your favorite hot sauce.

Dessert Hummus

P.B. & J Hummus, Sweet Hummus, Peanut Butter Hummus

 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 c. Navy Bean Flake
  • 1 c. water (boiling mixes best)
  • 1 c. peanut butter (or almond or cashew)
  • ¼ t. salt
  • 2 T. maple syrup
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 T. jam or jelly

 

Directions:

  1. Put Navy Bean Flakes, boiling water, nut butter, salt, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt in the food processor, pulse together until well blended.
  2. Chill approximately 30 minutes.
  3. Top with jam or jelly, and serve with graham crackers, apple slices, or pretzels.

 

Ingredients:

 



  • 1 c. Garbanzo Bean Flakes (501550 or 501551)
  • 2/3 c. water (boiling mixes best)
  • 1/3 c. peanut butter
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. mini chocolate chips
  • pinch of salt

 

Directions:

  1. Put all ingredients, except chocolate chips, in food processor or blender and pulse together until well blended.
  2. Stir in chocolate chips.
  3. Chill for 30 mins before serving. The flavors will become more defined as it rests.

Great for graham crackers, pretzels, or fruit.

Ingredients:

  • 1 c. Black Bean Flake
  • 1 T. McCormick's Mojito Lime Marinade
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water

 

Instructions:

  1. Add the boiling water to the Black Bean Flakes and stir in McCormick's Mojito Lime marinade.
  2. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Serve.
  • Great toppings for this dip are cheese, tomatoes, bell pepper, sour cream...
