Classic Hummus Base

Hummus, Garbanzo Bean, Chickpea

Prep. Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4-6



  • 1 c. Garbanzo Bean Flake (501550 or 501551)
  • ⅔ c. boiling water
  • ⅓ c. tahini (optional)
  • 1 ½ T. garlic powder or 1 clove fresh garlic
  • 2 T. lemon juice or vinegar



1. Put all ingredients in food processor or blender, pulse together until well blended.
2. Chill for 30 minutes before serving. The flavors will become more defined as it rests.


Mix it up!

Greek: Base plus 1 T. yellow mustard, diced green olives to garnish.
Roasted Red Pepper: Base and garnish with roasted red peppers.
Spicy: Base plus 1 t. (or more) red pepper flakes, garnish with a small swirl of Sriracha or your favorite hot sauce.
